If your truck's black trim has gone gray, the Decatur sun's been working on it.

Decatur runs on work vehicles — trucks and SUVs that are out in it all day, down by the river plants, around Point Mallard, out toward the industrial side of town. The black plastic takes the hit first: bumpers, fender flares, the cladding and mirror housings fade to a dull gray while the paint's still fine. That's UV oxidizing the surface of the plastic — it's not ruined, it just needs restored instead of wiped.

Here's the honest part, because people get sold the wrong thing: a quick trim dressing looks sharp the day it goes on and then washes off in the next couple rains. Restoration is the real version. I clean the trim back, pull the oxidation off, and bring the color back so it actually lasts. It's more work than a spray-and-go, and it holds a lot longer.

Restored trim isn't permanent, though — nothing on the outside of a vehicle that lives in the Alabama sun is. It'll hold a good while, then the sun starts in again and it's worth a refresh. When I do it, I'll tell you what to expect for your vehicle.

I'm mobile, so I come to you — the driveway, or the jobsite if that's easier, anywhere around Decatur and Morgan County. Trim restoration is part of a full Supercharged detail, but if faded trim's the only thing you need handled, I'll come do just that. Every job's quoted per car. Let me take a look and I'll tell you what it needs.

Three levels, whatever your car needs

When I detail a car I'm not just washing it — I'm protecting it. So there are three levels, and they build on each other. Stock is a proper clean-up for a car that's already in good shape. NOS is everything in Stock plus deeper interior work and more attention outside, for a car that's stayed fairly clean but hasn't been detailed in a while. Supercharged is the full workup — everything in NOS plus paint protection and the deep stuff, for a car with real buildup, faded trim, or an interior that's been lived in. You can add any single service onto any level too. The full menu is here. There are no set prices — I look at your car and quote it straight.

What you'll need at your place

To detail your car in Decatur, I just need two things from you: an outdoor water spigot and a power outlet I can reach, plus enough room to walk all the way around the car. I bring everything else — the skill, the products, the machines, all of it. Pull out anything valuable and leave the trash; I'll handle that. You stay home, watch TV or eat dinner, and your car gets done right there in the driveway.

Decatur questions

My work truck's trim and bumpers are sun-baked and gray. Can that come back?

Usually, yes. A truck that's out working all day in the Decatur sun cooks its black plastic — bumpers, flares, mirror housings go gray and chalky. That's the surface oxidizing. I clean it back and restore the color. How far it comes back depends how far gone it is, and I'll look it over and tell you straight.

Is this different from just spraying some trim shine on it?

Yeah, and it's worth knowing the difference. A spray dressing looks good for a week or two and then washes off in the rain. Restoration is the real job — I clean the trim down, get the oxidation off, and bring the color back so it holds a lot longer. More work up front, less redoing it.

Do I have to get a full detail or can you just do the trim?

Just the trim works. It's included in a Supercharged detail, but if the rest of the truck or car is fine and the faded trim's the problem, I'll come do that on its own. I come to your driveway or your jobsite around Decatur, and every job's quoted per car.
